Receiving Correction; Mark Driscoll

I have struggled some with Mark Driscoll, more for his method & manner vs. his doctrine generally speaking. However this week Tim Challies has posted Driscoll’s response in regards to a private conversation between John Piper and CJ Mahaney.
Driscoll receives a lot of criticism, so it is good to balance that criticism with a praise when it becomes obvious that Driscoll is actively seeking to deal with his short-comings and areas of his life where he needs further sanctification. It was a great reminder for me as well as I identify with his words a great deal. And pointing to my own need to personally repent of not seeing God’s Grace, and seeing only the things that are incomplete.
Last Sunday, at Mars Hill Church, Mark Driscoll preached a sermon on the Regulative Principle. For a few minutes, just at the end of the sermon, he discussed some “behind-the-scenes” time he has spent with both C.J. Mahaney and John Piper. In this brief audio excerpt, posted below, he explains to his congregation some of the ways he has failed to serve them and how he hopes to grow in and by God’s grace. This is in light of some private brotherly correction and feedback he received from John Piper and C.J. Mahaney at the recent Resurgence conference.
When I hear things like this, I am filled with gratitude for this incredible, unique body called the church. I love to see Christians serving, challenging, exhorting and blessing other Christians in this way. I thank God for Piper and Mahaney and their ministry to Mark Driscoll and, through him, to the church at large.
This is an example of needed correction in all of our lives and if you read the book humility by C.J. Mahaney
this is what allows the cream cheese to be removed from our faces, by the loving tender care
of those whom love us and we have great respect for, I need to do similar repenting… have a listen to the 5
minute blurb on the Tim Challies website.
