Mourning a City Celebration
This Sunday we began a series on evolution / creation. There are two basic premises in the debate.
One that Evolution exist, there is no God, and therefore there is no one to be accountable to, we can do and should what ever we desire. We are our own, and no one should tell us what to do.
The second premise that God does exist, and that we and all of creation came from a design. That we are not our own but are accountable to someone higher than ourselves namely He who designed us, and if this is true then we must listen and sometimes, and often what is contrary to our own hearts desire because our own hearts desires come from our fallen natures.
One of the most true but most frightening things that came out of the talk Sunday morning was the fact, and I having been a product of this to a great deal, ” if you remove the basis or foundation of God from society, then all else is free to do as they will.” If people are free to do as they will society will continue to move in the direction of self-destruction because they will in fact pleasure themselves to death, sacrificing everything to the God of mass & materialism.
We have become a humanistic society where our entire focus is “self.” The thought of doing something self-less is often horrifying for most. We can do it if it’s a great cause but most of the time our lives revolve around “conveniences” or “comforts.” I am no stranger to these things & I recognize them as major pitfalls for the church as we forget the past and repeat history.

Historian Polybius attributed the fall of ancient Rome to pedophilia progressed from rampant homosexuality among aristocrats. During the reign of Justinian, homosexuality and bestiality were acceptable as Roman entertainment.
However, many historians, including Edward Gibbon, in The Decline and Fall of The Roman Empire, suggest that the fall of Rome was assured only when the depravity of Roman society transcended to the military’s legions, where such self-indulgences replaced disciplines that made Rome’s legions so formidable. Moral corruption of the legions left the people unprotected from the crude armies that ultimately sacked Rome.

We continue to go down the path of desiring no accountability, doing what we feel like is good, to the detriment of society and hoping in the fact of the Pelagian Heresy that we are all basically good and we just have to be taught the “right” things. Yet if we have no standard of right, we invent “right” in our own eyes and there is no absolute we are asking for anarchy. If we can take the foundation out of society God, His word, then we can be free to choose what we want to do, create horrendous crimes against mankind, such as the killing of babies in the womb, and other heinous sins and there is no accountability. Oh sure we have the law but the laws are changing and being redefined by judges who have succumbed to the same philosophies of our society where there is no absolute truth, so if we can romantisize sin enough, if we can make it look good and put a funny face on sin like Ellen Degeneres, we can make sin look acceptable and good to the world. The exception does not make the rule, and even if there’s an exception, it is explicitly not God’s way, or God’s design for human kind. All of this begins with the origins and foundations being removed in the our government run school system, remove God, and anything associated with God and replace Him with our self. i.e (Self-Esteem God)
Society has also taken to numbing ourselves from the guilt of our conscience, and its attempts to place weight upon our decisions. The drug culture as well, as people think that drugs cause them to think at a more free deeper level are deceiving themselves as they lose the ability to reason and think, and to consider the evidence that is before them about their creator. All of these things as we chronicle history in the works celebrating sin and the degradation of our society.
Today I was reminded of this once again as I drove past the Liberty memorial where they had their 30th year Gay Pride Fest. A local blogger blogs about it in its celebration as their attempt is to make it normative in the life of our society attempting to assimilate a Godless lifestyle into our X Judeo Christian culture with offering children’s games in an attempt to make it look family.
My heart went out to these folks as I have had many friends in the past who are of this life style, I long to share with them the truth. The freedom they could have in Jesus Christ. The hope that they could know if they did not trust themselves but trusted in the God, if they could know God someone so much greater than self.
